Radiohead wins Best Alternative Album Grammy for In Rainbows


While they didn’t win the “top prize” at tonight’s 51st Grammy Awards (it went to fellow British rocker-extraordinaire, Robert Plant, for his collaboration with Alison Krauss), Radiohead isn’t going home empty handed. The dynamic British superband’s 2007 In Rainbows won two Gramophone trophies, one for best alternative album and one for best boxed or special edition album.1 Oh, and they performed ’15 Step’ with the USC Marching Band backing ’em up live on stage.

In Rainbows wowed fans and critics alike, both with its surprisingly more upbeat themes and its groundbreaking, record company-free, pay-what-you-like online distribution experiment.  I’m sure many fans are disappointed that they didn’t take home Album of the Year, but hey, there is always next album.  And, in all seriousness, Robert Plant is, and always has been, a total [email protected]$$.
