Must see DVD: Gonzo – The Life and Work of Hunter S. Thompson

I finally got around to watching Gonzo: The Life and Work of Hunter S. Thompson on DVD a couple days back. I’ve always been a fan of his writings (and the screen adaptation of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), but never took the time to learn more about this wildly interesting caricature of a person until the other day.

Gonzo is a tribute to all things Hunter S. Thompson (duh), but really helps those of us born after his heyday to better understand the historic events and adventures that shaped his life and work. From his days with the Hells Angels to his inability to deal with politics as usual, Thompson spent most of his life fighting “the establishment,” with plenty of success and failure along the way.

Check out the trailer after the break.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
