Inspired by nature: Protect your Droid Incredible with a shell

Previously, I wrote about how much I liked Verizon’s generic silicone case for the HTC Droid Incredible. I stand by that post, but I’ve also found a worthy replacement – the HTC Droid Incredible Shell Holster Combo.

I’m not one to use a phone holster (more on that later), but the sub-$10 shell/holster combo is a fantastic alternative protective measure for anyone who usually carries their Incredible in their pocket. On its own (sans the holster), the shell provides solid protection for the back (including the protruding camera lens) and sides of the D.I. while adding minimal bulk overall.

The shell is constructed of sturdy, hard plastic and fits the Incredible like a glove. I particularly like the fact that all of the device’s ports and buttons are protected, but with generous room to use and access them. The fact that the shell does not wrap the entire phone makes it feel more minimal than it really is…a good feature in my book.

As for the holster…if you’re into it, more power to ya. It seems sturdy and the phone+shell slides in and out without much hassle and feels secure while in place. If you regularly put your Incredible in a purse or briefcase, the holster will provide excellent protection for your Incredible’s all-important touchscreen display. I’ll never use the holster on my person, but I’m sure it will come in handy while traveling with the device in my backpack or luggage.

Finally, the cross-weave textured design on the back may not be for everyone, but it doesn’t bother me. If anything it’s not quite as ‘grippy’ as I’d imagined, but it is comfortable to hold.

For under $10 (from Amazon, compared to $29.99 from VZW), if you’re looking for a solid case shell for your Incredible, you really can’t go wrong with this product.
