/ Atoms For Peace – Thom Yorke / Flea / Nigel Godrich / Mauro Refosco / Joey Waronker /
When Thom Yorke announced that he was going to tour his solo album – The Eraser – with the same supergroup he had assembled in October 2009, I jumped at the chance to grab tickets for the second night at Oakland’s Fox Theater. Man, am I glad I did.
Touring under the band name Atoms For Peace, Yorke and company put on a great show. The first set covered the entirety of The Eraser, followed by a long first encore which featured Yorke performing a number of songs solo, including Radiohead’s Airbag, before the rest of the band rejoined him.
The last, real encore was a cover of Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart. Needless to say, all five members were each impressive in their own right, and sounded great together all night. Seeing Thom have fun onstage alongside Flea, who also appeared to be having a blast, made for a really entertaining show.
