It’s Official: The Force is definitely strong in the UK

In today’s intergalactic news, according to the BBC, 10 employees (8 police officers and 2 police staff) of Scotland’s largest police force (no pun intended), the Strathclyde Police, reported their official religion as Jedi.

But The Force fun doesn’t stop there:

About 390,000 people listed their religion as Jedi in the 2001 Census for England and Wales. In Scotland the figure was a reported 14,000.

The Office for National Statistics did not recognise it as a separate category, and incorporated followers of Jedi with atheists.

Last year, brothers Barney and Daniel Jones founded the UK Church of the Jedi – which offered sermons on the Force, light sabre training, and meditation techniques.

And I thought I was Star Wars crazy (in general, and especially this week – this is the 3rd SW-related post in a row!). I mean, I know a large number of the original cast was from the UK and that much of the original trilogy was filmed across the pond, but still…clearly no one can argue with the fact that The Force is strong in the UK.
