Update: Studio XPS 435MT fan noise mitigated, but not gone

Update: BIOS 1.1.2 (which greatly reduces fan noise) is now available.

case-fanSince installing the latest BIOS update (1.0.12) two weeks ago, I’ve generally noticed a slight decrease in fan noise when putting the machine under stress. This is a good thing.

However, every now and then (including right now, as I write this), I find the case fan getting stuck in an annoying up-and-down throttle of sorts. Although its only happened a few times, it tends to occur under normal to lite loads, which makes it seem even more bizarre. The thing is, this did not happen before the 1.0.12 update, which introduced “fan control enhancement” in an effort to mitigate all the negative fan noise complaints/feedback. The only solution I’ve found is to restart.

So, Studio XPS 435MT owners, how is your fan noise post 1.0.12 update? If you get a chance, please take a moment to fill out the accompanying poll, thanks.
