Will Ferrell is tenawesome in You’re Welcome, America: A Final Night with George W. Bush

Last night’s HBO premier of Will Ferrell’s one-man Broadway show – You’re Welcome, America: A Final Night with George W. Bush – was hilarious, as expected.

The 90 minute play/skit hybrid covers W’s rise to the presidency along with his two terms in office. Although the show is certainly not for everyone (many people have cried out, “too soon!”), Ferrell’s ability to make light of the last 8 troubling years is truly genius; he successfully manages to blur historical truths with sensational Bushisms as only he could.

Throw in some witty jabs at W’s cabinet, hilarious (fictional) family stories, an audience nicknaming session, a Condi striptease, and a variety classic W moments…and Ferrell’s got himself a real winner.

Tonight’s performance marks the end of the show’s month-long run on Broadway, but you can still catch a future broadcast on HBO.
