Mark your calendar and set your DVR! America’s favorite animated family – The Simpsons – are (finally) making their high-definition debut on February 15, 2009 in an episode titled “Take My Life, Please.”
I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess that this sudden move to HD has some connection with the pending (now possibly delayed) digital TV transition (originally scheduled to happen on Feb. 17, 2009). With the entire country shifting to DTVs (and the incredible decline in HDTV prices), now is as good a time as ever to shift formats. Not to mention, there can’t be much of an increase in cost, if any, to animate in widescreen HD.
To date, the one and only HD “episode” was 2007’s The Simpsons Movie.
